CE is a French abbreviation for 'Communaut European'. It implies the European Union. If a product manufactured in other regions is to be distributed in the EU, this CE mark should be obtained. A CE mark does not guarantee the quality but instead it simply means that a product is in compliance with the basic safety conditions. If it has no CE mark or it is not in compliance with the conditions, it can't be distributed in the EU. The CE mark system has evolved over the course of time. As the conformity test and certification system based on product specs and technical regulations was unified as a global approach in December 1990, distinct certification procedures and marks varying product by product was unified and a test authority(EOTC) representing the European country was established. The certification business that the EU execution committee was responsible for was handed over to the EOTC. A group of 17 certification target products and eight modules(Module A to H) were designated. According to the new system, In each directive, a mandatory application model for each product should be specified.

-The GATT prepares the ISO9001 certification system in order to remove the barriers of technologies between each country. It is a certification system that allows a third party(certification body) to evaluates a quality system and verifies its quality ability.

-The ISO 9001 system suggest the four main processes as the mandatory requirements for quality management. Assuming that all these requirements are met, they evaluate implementation and execution of a valid quality system of each company.

-The ISO 9001 system is the most effective way to implement a quality system for a company. Each company should practically utilize it.

ISO 9001 : It defines the requirements for a quality management system when it is necessary to verify an organization's ability to provide the products in compliance with all the customer requirements and applicable regulations, or when an organization wishes to promote customer satisfaction by using effective applications of a system including a process to guarantee compliance with the customer requirements and applicable regulations and consistent improvements of its system.

The ISO 14000 series evaluates and analyzes an organization or a product and a process. The environment management system, the environment investigation and the environment evaluation are the standards for environment management. The environmental aspects of the products specs including the evaluations of the entire environment labeling processes are the evaluation standards for a product and a manufacturing process.

Pursuant to the customer rights protection laws enacted in the Russian Union in 1994, nearly all the products exported to the Russian Union are subject to this mandatory certification system that verifies compliance with the Russian Union specification. If a products(service, products) manufactured, sold, and distributed in Russia is deemed to be in compliance with the standard specs - test items, conditions, methods and results, this GOST mark is issued to it. Russia is checking the GOST marks on all the products imported to Russia. To verify compliance, companies are required to submit a certificate.

RoHS is a kind of trading barrier set by the EU in July 1, 2006. If an electronic product imported to the EU has an amount of specific harmful materials, pb, Cd, Hg, Cr6+, PPBs, or PBDEs exceeding a certain level, disadvantages are given to an exporter. This regulation is mandatory unlike other types of certifications.
